Dr.
Jonathan Richards
DPM

Dr. Jonathan Richards is a podiatrist and highly trained foot and ankle surgeon who holds a double Board Certification. He is a Diplomat with both the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM) and the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery (ABFAS).

Dr. Richards has extensive training in foot and ankle trauma, diabetic foot care, and limb salvage.

Currently, Dr. Richards is a Clinical Instructor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan and Mount Sinai Brooklyn. He is also an Attending Physician at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey, where he does trauma call in the E.R. Most recently, he became an Attending Physician at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn.

In 2006, Dr. Richards graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from Ohio State University. His interest in running and athletics led him to seek a career that would enable him to assist people with the maintenance and improvement of their physical health.

He then went on to study podiatry with a particular focus on sports medicine at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland (now known as the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine), which is one of the most respected podiatric medical education institutions in the United States. Upon completion, Dr. Richards was awarded a fellowship in Podiatric Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center, University Hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he started a Podiatric Medical Rotation (PMR) in 2010.

During his residency, Dr. Richards functioned as Co-Chair and Board Member of the Beth Israel House Staff Committee and also Board Member of the Beth Israel Health and Wellness Committee.

While at BI, he completed advanced coursework in limb deformity and clubfoot correction. At the 2011 TRIARQ Foot & Ankle Symposium, Dr. Richards shared his knowledge with the medical community through a presentation on Plantar Fasciitis.

From 2012 – 2013, Dr. Richards was chosen to serve as Chief Resident until his residency’s completion in June 2013. Around this time, Dr. Richards joined Starrett Podiatry where he remained until 2015 when he joined FOOTDRx, where he is currently Chief Foot & Ankle Surgeon.

He has dedicated himself to making sure his patients are provided with superlative care through state of the art surgical and non-surgical treatments.

Dr. Richards brings a keen sensitivity to foot pain and the patient experience, thanks to his personal experience as an avid runner. He has competed in 25 marathons including ones in Arkansas, Florida, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Washington D.C. and volunteered at the first aid stations. He is trying to complete a long-term goal of finishing a marathon in every state. These days, most of Dr. Richards' running is done at the playground behind his 3 toddlers who keep him very active!
